New firm commits to analogue future

A former Hasselblad executive has launched a new company dedicated to analogue film technology.

Ben Boswell, a former marketing manager at Hasselblad UK, has launched Minute Film, a company that distributes and sells Polaroid films and Holga cameras. 'Over the past 15 years, photography has changed beyond any recognition,' he tells BJP. 'It has become a digital art. With film, the process left a mark on images. You could, by looking at a photo, guess which film was used; in what conditions it was processed. Now, the only mark you see is the one left by Photoshop.'

Minute Film, Boswell's new company, is an attempt to bring character back to photography, he says. 'We're promoting Minute Film as a place where photography matters.

The company will distribute Polaroid film and Holga cameras to dealers around the country, while also selling directly to consumers via its website. The company also plans to sell the new Polaroid films developed by the Impossible Project. The new films will be released later this year.
